Shape Analysis

X-ray CT is used to observe the orientation of fibers in glass fiber and carbon fiber-reinforced resins, and to analyze defects such as voids in molded parts.

X-ray CT device X-ray CT device

This is an analysis technology that uses X-rays to scan objects as they rotate 360°, then uses a computer to reconstruct cross-sectional images. X-ray radiation from the X-ray tube passes through the sample, with some being absorbed, and reaches the X-ray detector. X-ray CT devices use the fact that X-rays are absorbed to allow non-destructive observation of the inside of a sample.

Glass fibers in resin Glass fibers in resin

If you observe a resin containing glass fibers, the glass fibers appear white and the resin appears gray. This can be used to calculate fiber orientation, etc.
