Reasons to Choose

Toray's AMILAN™ Nylon resin is an "engineering plastic" (hereinafter referred to as engineering plastic) that excels in heat resistance and mechanical strength among thermoplastic resins, and is specifically classified as a highly versatile material with a crystalline structure.

Heat resistance corresponding to high-temperature environments

AMILAN™ Nylon resin is a crystalline resin with a very high melting point among general-purpose engineering plastics, and can maintain its shape even under severe temperature environments. Due to this excellent heat resistance, it is suitable as a material for products used in high-temperature environments such as electronic components and automotive components. It is highly evaluated by many users and is expected to be applied in a wide range of industrial fields.

Mechanical properties with high strength

AMILAN™ Nylon resin is a crystalline resin with excellent mechanical strength and impact resistance. When it absorbs water, water molecules coordinate with the amide groups present in the structure of the nylon resin, activating the movement of the nylon molecules. This increases the flexibility of the material, thereby improving its toughness.

Resistance to a wide range of chemicals

Nylon 6 of AMILAN™ Nylon resin is composed of a strong amide group (-CONH-) bond in the molecular chain of nylon, and this structure exhibits excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals. The amide group strengthens the bond between molecules, showing high resistance to chemicals such as alkalis, alcohols, ethers, ketones, hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, oils, and detergents, as well as water including seawater.

Lineup of plant-derived grades

Toray proposes various plant-derived materials that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions causing global warming and reduce the consumption of fossil resources.
The Nylon 610, CM2000 series of AMILAN™ Nylon resin is a bio-based nylon made of approximately 60% sebacic acid extracted from plant-derived castor oil. We are developing compound grades and expanding applications taking advantage of its characteristics of low water absorption, which is about 50% of the water absorption rate compared to Nylon 6 and Nylon 66, and excellent low-temperature flexibility.
