Smart Electricity Meters
Towards the optimization of energy efficiency, the demand for smart electricity meters is rapidly
expanding around the world. Smart meters are equipped with remote meter reading, automatic control, and
anomaly detection functions, enabling real-time visualization of power usage and realizing efficient
management and cost reduction. Along with this growing demand, the need for resins that are resistant to
deformation and have excellent dimensional stability is increasing.
By providing resins that exhibit stable performance even under severe environments, Toray contributes to
the high performance and long life of next-generation smart meters.
Smart Meter Housings
Smart meters are generally installed outdoors, and their housings require high weather resistance,
flammability, impact resistance, and electrical insulation, as well as high dimensional stability
corresponding to the terminal guide grooves provided inside.
Toray provides highly durable and highly accurate resins that are resistant to deformation over a long
period, withstanding use in severe environments and enabling precise housing design.
Grades
While having outstanding dimensional stability among PBTs, this is a material that highly balances
flammability, hydrolysis resistance which was a weakness of conventional PBT, and toughness (handling
stress at fastening parts).
It has optimal performance for housings used outdoors.
