Chinese market, it is crucial to develop products speedily while absorbing local needs. Toray has established manufacturing and technical bases in Shenzhen, Suzhou, Chengdu, and Foshan to achieve rapid material development, supply, and technical support. In Shanghai, we conduct community-based development through basic research on polymer materials, and deploy cutting-edge technologies into actual parts at our Automotive Center.

Electromagnetic Wave Countermeasures Using Composite Materials

We have excellent technology for electromagnetic wave countermeasures using composite materials. This effectively suppresses electromagnetic interference in various fields such as electronic and electrical components and automotive parts, improving product reliability and performance. They also combine high electrical conductivity with excellent processability, enabling customization according to customer needs.

Downsizing through Laser Weldability

Laser weldability grades contribute significantly to downsizing, quality improvement, part count reduction, and cost reduction. By eliminating bolts, the number of parts is drastically reduced, making the manufacturing process more efficient. It also supports the realization of high-strength weldability, improves product reliability, and meets the diverse needs of customers.

Tracking Resistance

Diverse Customer Support

Analysis and Troubleshooting Support

Through on-site molding trials and detailed analysis, we accurately identify customer issues and propose optimal countermeasures. In compositional analysis, we analyze "components of resins and reinforcing materials," "thermal properties such as melting point," and "types of generated gas." In observational analysis, we support customers by inferring the causes of defects by investigating "appearance defects/causes of cracking," "types of foreign matter," and "internal state of molded products."

Design Recommendations

We can also make design recommendations that realize required performance by leveraging the properties of resins. In the case of crash pads, we proposed an optimal shape to achieve ideal energy absorption using CAE analysis technology. By maximizing energy absorption performance upon impact, we achieved a design that enhances passenger safety.

Molding and Processing Support

By being present at the molding and processing stages, we analyze and identify customer issues and propose optimal countermeasures. For example, in the injection molding process, Toray engineers are present at sites in various regions. Through this support system, we contribute to real-time problem solving.

Technical Solutions Based on CAE Analysis and
Material Knowledge

Utilizing "3D TIMON™," a molding analysis software that continues to evolve based on Toray's knowledge and experience, we provide solutions for better molding and mass production by evaluating gate locations and shapes from filling patterns, pressure, temperature, orientation, and warpage in the mold during injection molding. We also provide design support including materials and shapes by conducting performance testing of resin parts, structural analysis assuming market usage conditions, and structural analysis taking into account anisotropic physical properties based on the orientation of reinforcing fibers. *3D TIMON™ is a registered trademark of Toray Engineering D Solutions Co., Ltd.

The molding analysis CAE software 3D TIMON™ is used by a wide range of users, mainly in the automotive and electronics industries, and its functions are continuously being enhanced through joint development with customers and universities.
