Safety
Collision safety in mobility is an essential element for protecting the lives of passengers and pedestrians. For the design of components that absorb and disperse impact during accidents, lightweight and high-strength resin materials are required, and Toray contributes to improving safety by providing innovative resin products that meet these needs. As safety standards become more stringent, we aim to realize secure and safe driving through the development of materials that combine energy absorption during collisions and durability.
Airbag Retainers
Airbag retainers deploy airbags accurately during a collision, protecting the lives of passengers. In recent years, there has been a demand for achieving both light weight and high strength, and the utilization of new materials and recycled resins is advancing. Toray contributes to improving safety and reducing environmental impact through product development that meets these needs.
Grades
This is a grade that achieves both the toughness specific to nylon resin and high strength in order to develop the shock-absorbing properties required for resin airbag retainers. It is already increasingly adopted in some vehicle models, and future expansion is expected.
Shock Absorbing Parts
Shock absorbing parts play a role in absorbing large impacts (energy) during mobility collisions. In recent years, instead of conventional metal materials, lightweight resin materials have come to be used. By providing resin materials suitable for shock absorbing parts, Toray contributes to improving the safety of pedestrians and passengers, and protecting critical safety components such as high-voltage vehicle parts, batteries, and fuel tanks.
Grades
It is a high energy absorbing material optimal for shock absorbing parts. While maintaining the chemical resistance and moldability of PBT, we applied Toray's "NANOALLOY®" technology to achieve the development of excellent impact resistance required for crush pads. In addition, design assistance using Toray's CAE analysis is possible, contributing to the examination of optimal shapes through simulation.
