Smart Water Supply and Drainage Systems
In water supply and drainage equipment as well, the replacement of joints, pipes, and connectors of boilers with resin is progressing. Because these components are exposed to high-temperature and high-pressure environments, heat resistance and pressure resistance are required. Using resin materials, which are lighter and have excellent corrosion resistance and moldability compared to conventional metal components, can not only improve design flexibility and durability but also realize manufacturing cost reductions and maintenance simplification. Toray provides resin materials that meet these requirements, contributing to improving the reliability of water supply and drainage equipment.
Joint Connectors / Mixing Faucets
By replacing joint connectors with resin, countermeasures against corrosion, reduction in the number of parts, and lightweighting can be realized. In order to adopt resin materials, it is necessary to select appropriate grades with approval for water applications in the applicable region. Toray provides resin materials with approval for water applications that excel in hot water resistance, dimensional stability, and water hammer characteristics (impact resistance).

This is a material in which water hammer characteristics are improved by adding glass fiber and elastomer resin to PPS resin. It has well-balanced properties applied to many applications, and has also acquired the US NSF standard.
This is a material in which glass fiber is added to PPS resin. Because it has acquired approval for water applications in the US and European countries, you can use it with peace of mind. It features high rigidity, high strength, and creep resistance.
Pipes
PE, PP, PEX, and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) resins are generally used for water pipes in housing equipment, and each of these has excellent durability and moldability. On the other hand, Toray provides an extrusion grade of PPS resin. This grade boasts high heat resistance and chemical resistance, as well as excellent stability under high-temperature and high-pressure environments, and is less prone to deterioration than PEX and PVC, enabling long-term use. Therefore, it can be said to be an optimal material for pipes requiring reliability under severe conditions.

It is a flexible material utilizing the advantages of PPS resin, which are heat resistance, chemical resistance, and dimensional accuracy. It also has high rigidity and modulus.
Smart Meter (Flowmeter) Housings
Water smart meter housings require impact resistance, chemical resistance, and heat resistance, and PPS resin meets these requirements. Above all, impact resistance is considered important when used in developing countries; for example, even when subjected to physical impacts such as from a hammer, Toray's PPS resin exhibits excellent strength and prevents damage to the housing. It enables stable operation in all environments, enhancing the long-term reliability of smart meters.
